We Raised $2,500 for Experience Camps Thanks to You

Quick update: we raised $2,500 for Experience Camps this year.

Back in May, we told you where our 5% was going. For every event booked through end of Spring, we pledged 5% of the revenue to Experience Camps, the national nonprofit that sends grieving kids to a free week of overnight summer camp. It's free for the families, and the whole idea is pretty simple: give a kid a week to just be a kid, around other kids who get it.

Every field day, color war, and scavenger hunt booked in that window added a little to the pile, and the total is on its way over.

Where It Goes

Experience Camps runs mostly on volunteers — counselors, activities, the check-ins that keep campers connected between summers. Money like this doesn't go to overhead. It helps cover a week where a kid who's lost a parent or a sibling gets to be loud and silly and not have to explain anything.

It's also why Helena on our team spent three summers there as a counselor. She lost her mom at nine and has been going back ever since.

Why This One

We run field days because play gets people out of their heads for a bit. Experience Camps does the same thing for kids carrying something heavy. A week of camp doesn't fix anything, but it puts them in a room where they're not the only one.

Close enough to what we're about that it was an easy yes.

Let's Keep It Going

This campaign's wrapped, but the pledge isn't going anywhere. We'll pick a new cause and be back with it soon.

Thanks to everyone who booked with us this spring or summer. You got your team outside for an afternoon and helped send a kid to camp!
