Throwback’s Top 10 Field Day Games

You’re all familiar with capture the flag, tug-o-war, and the good ole potato sack race. But over the last several years we’ve put our own spin on these camp classics, plus developed some unique games of our own that have become fan favorites.

We’ve got lots of brand-new games we’re pumped to play this year, but to celebrate the beginning of the outdoor season, we’re sharing our top 10 favorite Throwback Field Day classics… some of which you’re guaranteed to play at one of our events!

  • Battlechips – Protect your own chip and prevent it from hitting the ground while simultaneously trying to knock down the opposing players’ chips

    Activity score: 5*

  • Benchball – Safely move all teammates to opponent’s bench, relying on throwing and catching skills

    Activity score: 5

  • Bird’s Nest – Be the first team to accumulate five cones in this fast-paced, strategy-influenced, relay-style event with a twist on a childhood staple

    Activity score: 4

  • Blind Maze – Move your team through a course one at a time by stepping in various checkpoints – all while blindfolded

    Activity score: 3

  • Clue Minefield – Work with your team to uncover clues placed across the field and use the clues to solve puzzles

    Activity score: 5

  • Tug-o-War – Just like you remember from your camp days, but structured as a round-robin tournament where you’ll face off against different competitors

    Activity score: 7

  • Pong Feud – A mashup of the tailgating staple, beer pong (but without the drinking), and the popular TV game show, Family Feud

    Activity score: 2

  • Showdown – Work as a team to outsmart the other teams and show off your music knowledge

    Activity score: 1

  • Capture the Flag – Retrieve as many flags as possible from the opposing team’s territory while defending your own team’s flags with foam balls

    Activity score: 8

  • Telephone Taps – An active twist on the classic kid’s game also known as Chinese whispers

    Activity score: 3

*Note on Activity Score: we plan most events to have games in the 4-5 range of Activity Scores. 1 means no physical activity and 10 means very demanding. That said, we are very flexible to client desires. Want something more physically competitive? Or more relaxed? You got it!
